Explanation
The non-profit organization HokkaidoWilds.org is in the final stages of preparing to release its latest topographic map product, “Daisetsuzan Backcountry.”
This map compiles all the information (and more) published on HokkaidoWilds.org regarding backcountry skiing in Daisetsuzan National Park, located in central Hokkaido.
Similar to ‘Niseko Backcountry’, this is produced as a non-profit venture, with a portion of sales proceeds donated to mountain safety initiatives and sustainable nature use projects within Hokkaido.
The authors are Robert Thomson, Associate Professor at Hokusei Gakuen University and Editor-in-Chief of HokkaidoWilds.org, and data scientist Chris Old.
